ARDA - Antigonish Regional Development Authority
Established in1996, the Antigonish Regional Development Authority (ARDA) is one of 12 regional development authorities in the province of Nova Scotia. We receive core funding from all levels of government and are proud to partner with them on key initiatives of community investment.
Antigonish Chamber of Commerce
The Antigonish Chamber of Commerce proactively promotes and supports the interests of business in the Antigonish and surrounding areas, based on a foundation of leadership, integrity and cooperation, to effect an enhanced business environment for our members and the business community.
ACALA
The Antigonish County Adult Learning Association believes that education is a privilege many of us take for granted. In Antigonish, we live in a community with great public educational institutions and with a post-secondary institution that is world renowned for academic excellence. However, there are many people, who for a variety of reasons were unable to complete their education in a traditional manner, and whose need to complete it remains a very real goal.
ACRC
The Antigonish Career Resource Centre provides a warm and friendly environment for clients who are seeking assistance with their job search and career development. XEDC partners with the ACRC in providing a variety of training programs to support individuals considering entrepreneurship as a career path.
Community Business Development Corporations (CBDCs)
The Atlantic Association of Community Business Development Corporations (CBDCs) is a network of autonomous, not-for-profit organizations that work with all levels of government and the private sector to meet the needs of small business. XEDC often partners with the local CBDC (NOBL) to provide training, resources and business counselling for small business owners and those looking to develop business plans or launch a new venture.
Students In Business
The Students in Business Program helps students start their own business. The program offers business loans, training and counselling to help students start and expand businesses. Since 2004, hundreds of Nova Scotia students have participated in Students in Business and the success rate holds at 96%!
Gerald Schwartz School of Business
The Gerald Schwartz School of Business is renowned for producing top business talent. Located in the heart of StFX's lower campus, the business school's brand new, state-of-the-art facility, is home to both the Schwartz School of Business and the new Frank McKenna Centre for Leadership. XEDC maintains an office in the new Gerald Schwartz building across from the main entrance and offers support and resources to StFX student entrepreneurs - and aspiring entrepreneurs.
StFX Co-Op Department
The StFX Co-op office works closely with students, university staff and faculty, as well as employers locally, provincially, and across Canada, to ensure quality program delivery to all participants. Current and past employers have enjoyed the flexible and accommodating co-op model unique to StFX. XEDC partners with the Co-op office and the Student Career Centre in a variety of ways including joint training activities, Making the Career Connection, and more.
StFX Student Career Centre
Each year students and graduates look to the Student Career Centre for assistance in their search for full time, part time, summer, internship, or international jobs. Recruiters and Employers come to SCC to find talented graduates. XEDC partners with the Co-op office and the Student Career Centre in a variety of ways including joint training activities, Making the Career Connection, and more.
StFX Writing Centre
Writing Centre instructors assist students from all disciplines in developing their own critical thinking, writing, and self-editing practices. Instructors provide the environment for students to help themselves by emphasizing writing as a process that requires planning, critical reflection, and practice. XEDC partners with the Writing Centre to provide training and resources in support of student entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs. |
